Top 4 Trending Texting Apps for Teens

Gone are the days of Blackberry Messenger and maybe even Yahoo Messenger, although I highly doubt it. Nowadays, the hot new apps are WhatsApp and Kik for when my friends need to hmu (hit me up). I’ll have an acronym dictionary in the future especially for when you want to look like your still in this century.

This article is to tell you guys what is being used out there in our world of 2015 in terms of texting apps. Apps are always being made and there’s a struggle for these companies to keep reinventing themselves. Constant updates to fix bugs, add new features and overall give you the user a better experience. This is based mostly on the opinions of myself and close friends.

An application we all should be familiar with is WhatsApp; everyone is using it even my mother. It has really taken things to another level with its newest feature WhatsApp Call (but I’ll talk about that in another article). This is one of the most if not the most popular social app. WhatsApp Messenger is a cross-platform mobile messaging app which allows you to exchange messages without having to pay for SMS. WhatsApp Messenger is available for iPhone, BlackBerry, Android, Windows OS phones and Nokia. This is because WhatsApp Messenger uses the same internet data plan that you use for email and web browsing, there is no cost to message and stay in touch with your friends. WhatsApp users can create groups; send each other unlimited images, video and audio media messages. It has a rating of 4.4 stars on Google Play.

Kik has become a good way to connect with friends, no matter where you meet them. Unlike other messengers, Kik uses usernames instead of phone numbers for its accounts. It has marketing tools that let brands talk to and share cool content with users and track the results. The developer tools help developers optimize and distribute their web content on Kik. The built-in browser lets users search for and share content and experiences without leaving Kik or without downloading another app.

Facebook Messenger is just as good as WhatsApp, having almost all the same features. Even if you have the Facebook app you will need Facebook Messenger to inbox other Facebook users. This has caused much complaint as users want both apps in one. Facebook Messenger is rated 3.9 stars on Google Playstore. Though downloaded more than Kik, is rated 0.4 stars below it. It is also dependent on an internet data service or Wi-Fi. It has similar features to WhatsApp such as voice notes, sending images, sending videos and making calls. It does a whole bunch of other things. It is the only messaging app that allows you to access the chat screen without fully leaving another app. I love this feature and it truly makes multitasking easier.
